And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,1Καὶ ὅτε ἐγγίζουσιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα εἰς Βηθφαγὴ καὶ Βηθανίαν πρὸς τὸ ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν ἀποστέλλει δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ
And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.2καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν κώμην τὴν κατέναντι ὑμῶν καὶ εὐθὺς εἰσπορευόμενοι εἰς αὐτὴν εὑρήσετε πῶλον δεδεμένον ἐφ’ ὃν οὐδεὶς οὔπω ἀνθρώπων ἐκάθισεν λύσατε αὐτὸν καὶ φέρετε
And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.3καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ Τί ποιεῖτε τοῦτο εἴπατε ‹Ὅτι› Κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει καὶ εὐθὺς αὐτὸν ἀποστέλλει πάλιν ὧδε
And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.4Καὶ ἀπῆλθον καὶ εὗρον πῶλον δεδεμένον πρὸς θύραν ἔξω ἐπὶ τοῦ ἀμφόδου καὶ λύουσιν αὐτόν
And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?5καί τινες τῶν ἐκεῖ ἑστηκότων ἔλεγον αὐτοῖς Τί ποιεῖτε λύοντες τὸν πῶλον
And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.6Οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς καθὼς εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἀφῆκαν αὐτούς
And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.7καὶ φέρουσιν τὸν πῶλον πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἐπιβάλλουσιν αὐτῷ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐπ’ αὐτόν
And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.8Καὶ πολλοὶ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν ἔστρωσαν εἰς τὴν ὁδόν ἄλλοι δὲ στιβάδας κόψαντες ἐκ τῶν ἀγρῶν
And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:9καὶ οἱ προάγοντες καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες ἔκραζον Ὡσαννά Εὐλογημένος ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου
Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.10Εὐλογημένη ἐρχομένη βασιλεία τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν Δαυίδ Ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις
And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.11Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα εἰς τὸ ἱερόν καὶ περιβλεψάμενος πάντα ὀψὲ ἤδη οὔσης τῆς ὥρας ἐξῆλθεν εἰς Βηθανίαν μετὰ τῶν δώδεκα
And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:12Καὶ τῇ ἐπαύριον ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Βηθανίας ἐπείνασεν
And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.13καὶ ἰδὼν συκῆν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔχουσαν φύλλα ἦλθεν εἰ ἄρα τι εὑρήσει ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν οὐδὲν εὗρεν εἰ μὴ φύλλα γὰρ καιρὸς οὐκ ἦν σύκων
And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.14καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτῇ Μηκέτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐκ σοῦ μηδεὶς καρπὸν φάγοι καὶ ἤκουον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ
And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;15Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα Καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν ἤρξατο ἐκβάλλειν τοὺς πωλοῦντας καὶ τοὺς ἀγοράζοντας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ τὰς τραπέζας τῶν κολλυβιστῶν καὶ τὰς καθέδρας τῶν πωλούντων τὰς περιστερὰς κατέστρεψεν
And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.16καὶ οὐκ ἤφιεν ἵνα τις διενέγκῃ σκεῦος διὰ τοῦ ἱεροῦ
And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.17καὶ ἐδίδασκεν καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς Οὐ γέγραπται ὅτι οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς κληθήσεται πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὑμεῖς δὲ πεποιήκατε αὐτὸν Σπήλαιον λῃστῶν
And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.18Καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ ἐζήτουν πῶς αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ αὐτόν πᾶς γὰρ ὄχλος ἐξεπλήσσετο ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ
And when even was come, he went out of the city.19Καὶ ὅταν ὀψὲ ἐγένετο ἐξεπορεύοντο ἔξω τῆς πόλεως
And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.20Καὶ παραπορευόμενοι πρωῒ εἶδον τὴν συκῆν ἐξηραμμένην ἐκ ῥιζῶν
And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.21καὶ ἀναμνησθεὶς Πέτρος λέγει αὐτῷ Ῥαββί ἴδε συκῆ ἣν κατηράσω ἐξήρανται
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.22Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς Ἔχετε πίστιν θεοῦ
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.23ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ Ἄρθητι καὶ βλήθητι εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ μὴ διακριθῇ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἀλλὰ πιστεύῃ ὅτι λαλεῖ γίνεται ἔσται αὐτῷ
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.24διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν πάντα ὅσα προσεύχεσθε καὶ αἰτεῖσθε πιστεύετε ὅτι ἐλάβετε καὶ ἔσται ὑμῖν
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.25Καὶ ὅταν στήκετε προσευχόμενοι ἀφίετε εἴ τι ἔχετε κατά τινος ἵνα καὶ Πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς ἀφῇ ὑμῖν τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.26⧼Εἰ δὲ ὑμεῖς οὖκ ἀφίετε οὐδὲ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς ἀφήσει τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν⧽
And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,27Καὶ ἔρχονται πάλιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ περιπατοῦντος αὐτοῦ ἔρχονται πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι
And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?28καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ Ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς τίς σοι ἔδωκεν τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην ἵνα ταῦτα ποιῇς
And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.29 δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ἐπερωτήσω ὑμᾶς ἕνα λόγον καὶ ἀποκρίθητέ μοι καὶ ἐρῶ ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ
The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.30τὸ βάπτισμα τὸ Ἰωάννου ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἦν ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἀποκρίθητέ μοι
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?31Καὶ διελογίζοντο πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς λέγοντες ‹Τί εἴπωμεν› Ἐὰν εἴπωμεν Ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἐρεῖ Διὰ τί οὖν οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ
But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.32ἀλλὰ εἴπωμεν Ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἐφοβοῦντο τὸν ὄχλον ἅπαντες γὰρ εἶχον τὸν Ἰωάννην ὄντως ὅτι προφήτης ἦν
And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.33καὶ ἀποκριθέντες τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγουσιν Οὐκ οἴδαμεν Καὶ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς Οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ
