1
At
that
time
Jesus
went
through
the
grainfields
on the
Sabbath.
His
disciples
were hungry
and
began
to pick
[the] heads of grain
and
eat [them].
1
Ἐν
ἐκείνῳ
τῷ
καιρῷ
ἐπορεύθη
ὁ
Ἰησοῦς
τοῖς
σάββασιν
διὰ
τῶν
σπορίμων
οἱ
δὲ
μαθηταὶ
αὐτοῦ
ἐπείνασαν
καὶ
ἤρξαντο

καὶ
ἐσθίειν
2
[When]
[the] Pharisees
saw [this],
they said
to Him,
“Look,
Your
disciples
are doing
what
is unlawful
on
[the] Sabbath.”
2
οἱ
δὲ
Φαρισαῖοι
ἰδόντες
εἶπαν
αὐτῷ
Ἰδοὺ
οἱ
μαθηταί
σου
ποιοῦσιν
ὃ
οὐκ
ἔξεστιν

ἐν
σαββάτῳ
3
[Jesus] replied,
“Have you not read
what
David
did
when
{he} and
his companions
were hungry?
3
Ὁ
δὲ
εἶπεν
αὐτοῖς
Οὐκ

ἐπείνασεν
καὶ

He entered
the
house
of God,
and
[he and his companions] ate
the
consecrated bread,
which
was
not
lawful
for [them]
to eat,
but
only
for the
priests.

5
Or
haven’t you read
in
the
Law
that
on the
Sabbath
the
priests
in
the
temple
break
the
Sabbath
and yet
are
innocent?
5

6
But
I tell
you,
something greater than
the

here.

If
only
you had known
the meaning of
‘I desire
mercy,
not
sacrifice,’
you would not have condemned
the
innocent.

κύριος

τοῦ
σαββάτου
ὁ
Υἱὸς
τοῦ

9
Moving on
from there,
[Jesus] entered
their
synagogue,
9
Καὶ
μεταβὰς
ἐκεῖθεν
ἦλθεν
εἰς
τὴν
συναγωγὴν
αὐτῶν
10
and
a man
with
a withered
hand
[was there].
In order to
accuse
[Jesus],
they asked
Him,
“Is it lawful
to heal
on the
Sabbath?”
10
καὶ
ἰδοὺ
ἄνθρωπος

ἐπηρώτησαν
αὐτὸν
λέγοντες
Εἰ

αὐτοῦ
11
He replied,
“If
one
of
you
has
a
sheep
and
it
falls
into
a pit
on the
Sabbath,
will he not take hold of
it
and
lift [it] out?
11
Ὁ
δὲ
εἶπεν
αὐτοῖς
Τίς

ἄνθρωπος
ὃς

καὶ
ἐὰν

τοῦτο
τοῖς
σάββασιν
εἰς
βόθυνον
οὐχὶ

αὐτὸ
καὶ
ἐγερεῖ
12
How much
more valuable is
a man
than a sheep!
Therefore
it is lawful
to do
good
on the
Sabbath.”
12
πόσῳ
οὖν

ἄνθρωπος

13
Then
[Jesus] said
to
[the] man,
“Stretch out
your
hand.”
So
he stretched [it] out,
and
it was restored
to full use,
just like
the
other.
13
Τότε
λέγει
τῷ
ἀνθρώπῳ
Ἔκτεινόν
σου
τὴν
χεῖρα
καὶ
ἐξέτεινεν
καὶ
ἀπεκατεστάθη
ὑγιὴς

ἄλλη
14
But
the
Pharisees
went out [and]
conspired
to
kill
[Jesus].
14
ἐξελθόντες
δὲ
οἱ
Φαρισαῖοι
συμβούλιον
ἔλαβον
κατ’
αὐτοῦ
ὅπως
αὐτὸν

15
Aware of this,
Jesus
withdrew
from that place.
Large
crowds
followed
Him,
and
He healed
them
all,
15
Ὁ
δὲ
Ἰησοῦς
γνοὺς
ἀνεχώρησεν
ἐκεῖθεν
καὶ
ἠκολούθησαν
αὐτῷ
[ὄχλοι]

warning
them
not
to make
Him
known.
16
καὶ
ἐπετίμησεν
αὐτοῖς
ἵνα
μὴ
φανερὸν
αὐτὸν
ποιήσωσιν
17
This was
to fulfill
what
was spoken
through
the
prophet
Isaiah:
17
ἵνα
πληρωθῇ
τὸ
ῥηθὲν
διὰ
Ἠσαΐου
τοῦ
προφήτου
λέγοντος
18
“Here is
My
servant,
whom
I have chosen,
My
beloved,
in
whom
My
soul
delights.
I will put
My
Spirit
on
Him,
and
He will proclaim
justice
to the
nations.
18
Ἰδοὺ

19
He will not quarrel
or

no

His

in
the

19
οὐκ

οὐδὲ

οὐδὲ

ταῖς

τὴν
φωνὴν
αὐτοῦ
20
A bruised
reed
He will not break,
and
a smoldering

He will not extinguish,
till
He leads
justice
to

20

21
καὶ

ὀνόματι
αὐτοῦ
ἔθνη

22
Then
a demon-possessed man
[who was] blind
and
mute
was brought
to [Jesus],
and
He healed
[the man]
so that
[he]
could speak
and
see.
22
Τότε
προσηνέχθη
αὐτῷ
δαιμονιζόμενος
τυφλὸς
καὶ
κωφός
καὶ
ἐθεράπευσεν
αὐτόν
ὥστε
τὸν
κωφὸν
λαλεῖν
καὶ
βλέπειν
23
The
crowds
were all amazed
and
asked,
“Could this be
the
Son
of David?”
23
καὶ
ἐξίσταντο
πάντες
οἱ
ὄχλοι
καὶ
ἔλεγον
Μήτι
οὗτός
ἐστιν
ὁ
υἱὸς
Δαυίδ
24
But when
[the] Pharisees
heard this,
they said,
“Only
by
Beelzebul,
[the] prince
of the
demons,
{does} this [man]
drive out
demons.”
24
Οἱ
δὲ
Φαρισαῖοι
ἀκούσαντες
εἶπον
Οὗτος
οὐκ
ἐκβάλλει
τὰ
δαιμόνια
εἰ
μὴ
ἐν
τῷ
Βεελζεβοὺλ
ἄρχοντι
τῶν
δαιμονίων
25
Knowing
their
thoughts,
[Jesus] said
to them,
“Every
kingdom
divided
against
itself
will be laid waste,
and
every
city
or
household
divided
against
itself
will not stand.
25
Εἰδὼς

26
If
Satan
drives out
Satan,
he is divided
against
himself.
How
then
{can} his
kingdom
stand?
26
καὶ
εἰ

Σατανᾶν

πῶς

ἡ
βασιλεία
αὐτοῦ
27
And
if
I
drive out
demons
by
Beelzebul,
by
whom
{do} your
sons
drive them out?
So then,
they
will be
your
judges.
27
Καὶ
εἰ

28
But
if
I

by
[the] Spirit
of God,
then
the
kingdom
of God
has come
upon
you.
28
εἰ

29
How
can
anyone
enter
a strong [man’s]

and

unless

the
strong [man]?
Then
he can plunder
his

29
Ἢ

30
