(Revelation 3:14-22)
1Θέλω (I want) γὰρ (for) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰδέναι (to know) ἡλίκον (how great) ἀγῶνα (a struggle) ἔχω (I am having) ὑπὲρ (for) ὑμῶν (you), καὶ (and) τῶν (those) ἐν (in) Λαοδικείᾳ (Laodicea), καὶ (and) ὅσοι (as many as) οὐχ (not) ἑόρακαν (have seen) τὸ (the) πρόσωπόν (face) μου (of me) ἐν (in) σαρκί (the flesh),
2ἵνα (that) παρακληθῶσιν (may be encouraged) αἱ (the) καρδίαι (hearts) αὐτῶν (of them), συμβιβασθέντες (having been knit together) ἐν (in) ἀγάπῃ (love), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) πᾶν (all) πλοῦτος (the riches) τῆς (of the) πληροφορίας (full assurance) τῆς (-) συνέσεως (of understanding), εἰς (to) ἐπίγνωσιν (the knowledge) τοῦ (of the) μυστηρίου (mystery) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), Χριστοῦ (which is Christ),
3ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) εἰσιν (are) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) θησαυροὶ (treasures) τῆς (-) σοφίας (of wisdom) καὶ (and) γνώσεως (of knowledge) ἀπόκρυφοι (hidden).
4Τοῦτο (This) λέγω (I say) ἵνα (so that) μηδεὶς (no one) ὑμᾶς (you) παραλογίζηται (might delude) ἐν (by) πιθανολογίᾳ (persuasive speech).
5εἰ (If) γὰρ (truly) καὶ (indeed) τῇ (in the) σαρκὶ (flesh) ἄπειμι (I am absent), ἀλλὰ (yet) τῷ (-) πνεύματι (in spirit) σὺν (with) ὑμῖν (you) εἰμι (I am), χαίρων (rejoicing) καὶ (and) βλέπων (seeing) ὑμῶν (your) τὴν (-) τάξιν (good order) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) στερέωμα (firmness) τῆς (of the) εἰς (in) Χριστὸν (Christ) πίστεως (faith) ὑμῶν (of you).
Alive in Christ
6Ὡς (Just as) οὖν (therefore) παρελάβετε (you have received) τὸν (-) Χριστὸν (Christ) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord), ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) περιπατεῖτε (walk),
7ἐρριζωμένοι (having been rooted) καὶ (and) ἐποικοδομούμενοι (being built up) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him), καὶ (and) βεβαιούμενοι (being strengthened in) τῇ (the) πίστει (faith) καθὼς (just as) ἐδιδάχθητε (you were taught), περισσεύοντες (abounding) ἐν (with) εὐχαριστίᾳ (thanksgiving).
8Βλέπετε (Take heed) μή (lest) τις (anyone) ὑμᾶς (you) ἔσται (there will be) ὁ (-) συλαγωγῶν (taking captive) διὰ (through) τῆς (-) φιλοσοφίας (philosophy) καὶ (and) κενῆς (empty) ἀπάτης (deceit), κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) παράδοσιν (tradition) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men), κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) στοιχεῖα (principles) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) καὶ (and) οὐ (not) κατὰ (according to) Χριστόν (Christ).
9ὅτι (For) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) κατοικεῖ (dwells) πᾶν (all) τὸ (the) πλήρωμα (fullness) τῆς (of the) Θεότητος (Deity) σωματικῶς (bodily);
10καὶ (and) ἐστὲ (you are) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) πεπληρωμένοι (complete), ὅς (who) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) κεφαλὴ (head) πάσης (of all) ἀρχῆς (rule) καὶ (and) ἐξουσίας (authority),
11ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) καὶ (also) περιετμήθητε (you were circumcised) περιτομῇ (with the circumcision) ἀχειροποιήτῳ (made without hands), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀπεκδύσει (removal) τοῦ (of the) σώματος (body) τῆς (of the) σαρκός (flesh), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) περιτομῇ (circumcision) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ),
12συνταφέντες (having been buried with) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) βαπτισμῷ* (baptism), ἐν (in) ᾧ (which) καὶ (also) συνηγέρθητε (you were raised with Him) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) πίστεως (faith) τῆς (of the) ἐνεργείας (working) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ἐγείραντος (having raised) αὐτὸν (Him) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead).
13Καὶ (And) ὑμᾶς (you) νεκροὺς (dead) ὄντας (being) ‹ἐν› (in) τοῖς (the) παραπτώμασιν (trespasses) καὶ (and) τῇ (in the) ἀκροβυστίᾳ (uncircumcision) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) ὑμῶν (of you), συνεζωοποίησεν (He made alive together) ὑμᾶς (you) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (Him), χαρισάμενος (having forgiven) ἡμῖν (us) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (transgressions),
14ἐξαλείψας (having blotted out) τὸ (the) καθ’ (against) ἡμῶν (us) χειρόγραφον (handwriting) τοῖς (in the) δόγμασιν (decrees), ὃ (which) ἦν (was) ὑπεναντίον (adverse) ἡμῖν (to us); καὶ (and) αὐτὸ (it) ἦρκεν (He has taken) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) μέσου (way), προσηλώσας (having nailed) αὐτὸ (it) τῷ (to the) σταυρῷ (cross).
15ἀπεκδυσάμενος (Having disarmed) τὰς (the) ἀρχὰς (rulers) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἐξουσίας (authorities), ἐδειγμάτισεν (He made a show of them) ἐν (in) παρρησίᾳ (public), θριαμβεύσας (having triumphed) αὐτοὺς (over them) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it).
16Μὴ (Not) οὖν (therefore) τις (anyone) ὑμᾶς (you) κρινέτω (let judge) ἐν (in regard to) βρώσει (food), καὶ (or) ἐν (in regard to) πόσει (drink), ἢ (or) ἐν (in) μέρει (regard) ἑορτῆς (to a feast), ἢ (or) νεομηνίας (a New Moon), ἢ (or) σαββάτων (Sabbaths),
17ἅ (which) ἐστιν (are) σκιὰ (a shadow) τῶν (the things) μελλόντων (coming); τὸ (the) δὲ (however) σῶμα (body is) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ).
18μηδεὶς (No one) ὑμᾶς (you) καταβραβευέτω (let disqualify), θέλων (delighting) ἐν (in) ταπεινοφροσύνῃ (humility) καὶ (and) θρησκείᾳ (the worship) τῶν (of the) ἀγγέλων (angels), ἃ (which) ἑόρακεν (he has seen) ἐμβατεύων (detailing), εἰκῇ (vainly) φυσιούμενος (being puffed up) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) νοὸς (mind) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of him),
19καὶ (and) οὐ (not) κρατῶν (holding fast) τὴν (to the) Κεφαλήν (head), ἐξ (from) οὗ (whom) πᾶν (all) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body), διὰ (by) τῶν (the) ἁφῶν (joints) καὶ (and) συνδέσμων (ligaments) ἐπιχορηγούμενον (being supplied) καὶ (and) συμβιβαζόμενον (being knit together), αὔξει (increases) τὴν (with the) αὔξησιν (increase) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).
20Εἰ (If) ἀπεθάνετε (you have died) σὺν (with) Χριστῷ (Christ) ἀπὸ (away from) τῶν (the) στοιχείων (principles) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), τί (why) ὡς (as if) ζῶντες (living) ἐν (in) κόσμῳ (the world), δογματίζεσθε (do you submit to decrees):
21“Μὴ (Not) ἅψῃ (you should handle)! μηδὲ (Not) γεύσῃ (you should taste)! μηδὲ (Not) θίγῃς (you should touch)!”? —
22ἅ (which) ἐστιν (are) πάντα (all) εἰς (unto) φθορὰν (decay) τῇ (with the) ἀποχρήσει (use), κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἐντάλματα (commandments) καὶ (and) διδασκαλίας (teachings) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men),
23ἅτινά (which) ἐστιν (are) λόγον (an appearance) μὲν (indeed) ἔχοντα (having) σοφίας (of wisdom), ἐν (in) ἐθελοθρησκίᾳ (self-imposed worship) καὶ (and) ταπεινοφροσύνῃ (humility) καὶ (and) ἀφειδίᾳ (harsh treatment) σώματος (of the body), οὐκ (not) ἐν (of) τιμῇ (honor) τινι (a certain), πρὸς (against) πλησμονὴν (the indulgence) τῆς (of the) σαρκός (flesh).
